The Streets: Original Pirate Material

That caught me off guard a bit. Even though it's not a brilliant record, it's quite a good choice really. However, it's a shame they can't reach for the credibility that the gesture implies. I mean, did they *really* support Grime? No, they made girly remarks from the sidelines about bloggers' love affair with the form. I have an elephant's memory for this kind of minor stylistic travesty.

"Original Pirate Material" the track was a killer - but I remember being disappointed with the LP. Something about the way in which Skinner turned his personality up, his "voice" was more intriguing when it issued from within the body of the Nuum. This was mapped precisely onto the level at which he mastered his vocals - dialed back a bit would have created a better dynamic (You know like how Mantronix always set his vocalists back in the mix).....except I suppose that often the rhythm tracks were less-than-inspiring. Ho-hum.

Oops. There goes The Guardian review I was never going to get anyway ;-) Again...
